Blooming in Wisconsin

Here are wild and tame flowers that are in my gardens or in the woods.

I have no idea how to write under all of these pictures, so if anyone is curious about a particular flower, please ask me. There are scores of May Apples and Jack-in-the-Pulpits in the woods and thousands of Lily-of-the-Valley near the vegetable garden. Working in the garden near them, the fragrance was so intense that it was making me sick. Especially in the evenings. So, be careful what you wish for. . . . The Lilacs both white and purple, the Crab Apples and Honeysuckles were all here when we moved in sixteen and a half years ago. The lovely, white etheral Columbine and her wild sister I started from seed last year. And the Petunias, Begonia, Dianthus were all started in my basement a few months ago. In the pot were supposed to be Violas - I swear that's what the packet said. If they are violas, they are very big ones!
So that is it for now. I spent a wonderful Mother's Day gardening with my grand daughter and later started my new flower garden. The weather was perfect - in the 60s and I couldn't have asked for a better day.
Next month the perennials will be at their finest and the annuals should be coming into their own. I can't wait to show you all and can't wait to see yours.
Bye for now, Alyssa
P.S. I made up this post on Sunday but published it on late Monday night so I wouldn't be late for May Blooms day.

Wow, I love all those wildflowers. It looks like you are a week or so behind me in what is blooming. Your gardens must be so pretty right now. Thanks for participating in bloom day!

Hi Alyssa, what wonderful blooms you have for Blooms Day. Love that honey suckle, so pretty. Mine isn't flowering yet. Love those wildflowers, they are so elegant and not pretentious at all.

My contribution to Blooms Day is up too. :-)

Beautiful blooms. Looks like you are just slighly ahead of us. Stop by and see my slideshow of spring blooms.

Your bleeding hearts (white ones!?) and columbines are so pretty. All those pastels are so different from the many hot colors in my garden. That's the joy of Bloom Day, isn't it?

Lovely pics. I particularly love the Lamium...it can get a bit out of control if left to wander at will but the bees love it. Your garden looks great.

I thought that I had left a comment under this post, but it mustn't have taken. I wondered if the bluish-purplish blooms were Big Betony. I loved the May apples which I never see anymore as well as the Jack-in-the-Pulpits which I love.

Your garden is far more advanced than mine. The Columbines have just begun to bud and my lone Bleeding Heart is about to burst into bloom.

There is such a variety of plant life in your garden ... it must be a special place. I think it is wonderful that you spent Mother's Day with your granddaughter!

I think I see some Big Betony in one of your pictures ... with the bluey=purple blooms. I love coming to visit here especially when it is raining out!
