Little Things In My Life

It's said that life is made of all kinds of little things that add up to the whole. So, with that thought in mind, I decided I will show you some of the "little" things that caught my eye, imagination, (and pocket book!) this week. (I hope everyone likes pictures!)

Seed pods on a nameless shrub ....... and a lime green leaf-hopper near by

The Prairie Garden .... and a young grasshopper who lives there ....

Tall, dry thistle silhouettes ...... and a bit of color among them .....

Salsify (Oyster Plant) .... and, of course, Queen Anne, who will eat it.

Baby Stick-Tights . . . and a tiny mushroom forest

Mystery Lily .. and delicate Hydrangea both just opening

Two winged visitors in the gardens ....

Window boxes after a severe pruning ... everyone had
become leggy and unkempt. They will be back in a few weeks.

Thea and Garm trying out the "Nuzzle Nest" Mom ordered
from Pug Zoo. Very cozy and comfy!!

Tiny Chinese ceremonial tea service and ficus bonsai bought
from a very persuasive Chinese gentleman at our
County Fair.

It isn't the great big pleasures that count the most,
it's making a great deal out of the little ones.

The Nuzzle Nest looks as if it is a big hit with Thea and Garm. Your photos are beautiful. I love Queen Anne's Lace ... and the Hydrangea ...

Your window boxes remind me that I should do the same. This hot, hot weather is melting my brain and I am not doing much in the garden besides watering.

The tiny mushroom forest looks like a wonderful place for an elfin visit!

Enjoy your week!

Kate - I was hoping they would sleep on it together, but that will probably take a while.

I've found that my hybrid petunias don't stretch and get leggy so next year those window boxes will be filled with them.

Actually, there were elves in the mushroom forest but they refused to be photographed!

Have a good week and stay cool.

Love your pictures. Love the quote. How true!

Alyssa,

The baby stick tights and the miniature mushrooms are my favorites (next to the Nuzzle Nesters :o)!

When things go awry, I can always count on the little things to make things right and lighten my mood.

You explained that perfectly here.

Lovely post. And, of course, we all love pictures!

Marie - Thank you. I try to keep an eye out for the little things.

Mary - I'm glad you liked it. Actually I think I like the mushrooms the best - this Fall I'll make a Mushroom Post.

I so enjoy watching the gold finches flit among the thistles.

Hi Alyssa!
I am back from my six week trip away from my known world!
I hope you haven't missed me too much! (just kidding!)
I just want to say that those pictures are beautiful, cool, and very facinating all at the same time. I really like the one of the mushrooms, yes those are mushrooms right? They are really cool, and almost have a Fairy Tale-esque look to them! Well, my mom says I have to clean 6 weeks worth of mail off my desk, let me tell you that that will be no easy task. All that is on my desk is mail, but you can't even see the surface. How come when you want to get mail, you never do, but when you don't actually need it or aren't there for the magic moment of pulling it out of the mail box, you get so much that you know you wont finish reading it for years to come?
I don't know!
I missed hearing your insightful comments, and there were even times when I imagined what you would say about different things I saw.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Lizzie~

Deemom - They sure do love them! That's why we let some thistles grow around the yard.

Lizzie - So glad to hear you are back. I'm very curious to hear all about the big adventure. I'll drop in on your blog and read all about it. Welcome Home!
